Seminole Gulf Rail Way Dinner Theater
Seminole Gulf Railway owns and operates over 100 miles of track in Florida from a connection with the national rail system at Arcadia between North Naples and between Oneco (Bradenton) and Sarasota. Seminole Gulf is the only freight railroad in Southwest Florida, hauling much of the region's building materials, newsprint, LP gas, plastics, sugar, stone, recycled materials, steel, and other commodities.
After purchasing the lines from CSX Transportation, Seminole Gulf Railway began freight operations in November 1987. In January 1991, the railroad opened the Dinner Train and Daytime Excursion Trains, from Railhead Park in North Naples, Florida. Passenger service operations were soon moved to the new Colonial Station in Fort Myers.
In the fall of 1991, the Dinner Train began its first Murder Mystery Production, "Murder on the Seminole Express" which became an instant success. Other special trips followed, the most popular of which was the Christmas Rail/Boat Trips to Punta Gorda, which have become an annual event. Over the past seventeen years, The Dinner Train Theater, known to many as the Murder Mystery Train has hosted over 450,000 patrons and has premiered over 45 new murder mystery productions.
Operating year-round, The Dinner Train Theater seats up to 200 passengers in 4 reconditioned 1930's - 1940's vintage railcars, "Sanibel", "Marco", "Gasparilla" and "Captiva". All food is prepared on board the train in the "Marco" kitchen.

Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary
Visitors to Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary find a gentle pristine wilderness that dates back more than 500 years. A 2.25 mile boardwalk meanders through the pine flatwoods, open prairie and finally into the largest forest of ancient bald cypress in North American. These impressive tress, relatives of the redwood, tower 130 feet into the sky and have a girth of 25 feet. Their massive branches are draped with mosses, lichens, air plants, orchids, and ferns.
The forest is also home to hundreds of alligators, otters, Florida black bear, white tailed deer, and red bellied turtles.
The boardwalk winds through the Swamp's two "lettuce lakes", wide shallow soup bowls that are favorite feeding grounds for wildlife. During the dry spring months, birds and reptiles congregate at the lettuce lakes in a competitive feeding frenzy, one of nature's most exiting, interesting performances.
Almost 200 bird species are permanent or temporary residents of the Sanctuary. Year round, visitors see egret, ibis, heron, limpkin and anhinga. Songbirds, including the black throated green warblers and yellow-billed cuckoos, visit during the spring and fall as they migrate between the tropical and temperate regions of the Americas. Winter visitors include pine warblers and painted buntings. Corkscrew is world-renowned for supporting the largest colony of nesting wood storks in the United States.
Another seasonal treat is the cool respite found in Corkscrew's forest during the summer months. And mosquitos are virtually absent, thanks to tiny mosquito fish wich eat mosquito larvae.
Corkscrew's water is actually a slow moving river that flows to the southwest toward the Gulf of Mexico. Plants and trees help to filter the water, keeping it sweet and clear. Wildflowers and budding greenery create one of nature's most pleasant perfume blends.
Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary is owned and operated by the National Audubon Society and acclaimed as the crown jewel of the Society's sanctuaries.

Billie Swamp Safari
For centuries, nature has persevered in fashioning one of the world's most intriguing environments: Big Cypress, the water shed of the Florida Everglades, borne of the Seminole Indians and Billie Swamp Safari.
The Seminoles clearly understand the importance of their land and rich heritage. The idea of presenting a safari experience here on the Reservation was developed as many people traveled through our reservation looking for native village chickees and Indian culture, however, they couldn't find it. We planned Billie Swamp Safari and opened it up to visitors from around the world.
Billie Swamp Safari opens 2,200 lush acres of its Big Cypress Reservation to the public. This is an unparalleled opportunity to experience, first-hand the majesty of nature. Billie Swamp Safari offers daily tours into reservation wetlands, hardwood hammocks and sloughs where wildlife abounds, sightings of deer, water buffalo, bison, wild hogs, hawks, eagles other rare birds and alligators are common - there are even Florida panthers in the area.
Tours are provided aboard swamp buggies, customized motorized vehicles specially designed to provide visitors with an elevated view of the frontier while comfortably riding through the wetlands and cypress heads. Also, visitors may choose to take an exhilarating airboat ride or take a walk through our cypress dome boardwalk nature trail. Or, if history is your preference, there is Sam Jones Camp, recreated for and named after the medicine man and leader who led the Seminole resistors in the second Seminole War.

Great Calusa Blueway Paddling Trails
The Great Calusa Blueway paddling trail meanders through Lee County's costal waters from its northern point in Pine Island Sound to its southern end on Estero Bay, as well as inland on the Caloosahatchee River and its tributaries. The 190 mile trail guides canoeists and kayakers via easy to indentify markers through shallow areas away from powerboat traffic. Paddlers use free maps and/or GPS coordinates, both of which are online at www.greatcalusablueway.com
Widelife along the blueway is abundant, from leggy wading birds such as a half-dozen varieties of herons to oher fowl such as seasonal white pelican and year-round bald eagles. Paddles encounter dolphins, manatees, sea turtles and river otters as well. Snook, redfish, tarpon and other game fish abound.
The trail is perfect for a one-hour trip for novices as well as avid back-country paddlers. Anglers, bird watchers, nature photographers, day trippers, families, adventure enthusiast, and geocatchers also enjoy the blueway.
