As the unofficial end-of-summer holiday, Labor Day is the last chance to make summer break count. Yet, in contrast to some other holidays that offer expected activities, Labor Day isn’t bounded by clear-cut traditions. To spark some ideas for activities, we’re here to suggest eight excellent things to do on Labor Day weekend.

8 Excellent Things to Do on Labor Day

1. Go Paddleboarding

Try paddleboarding and experience a unique way to get on the water. Lakes and rivers are typically warmest in early September, making it a great time to go paddleboarding. If you’re worried about balancing, kayaking and canoeing are good alternatives that allow you to sit down.

2. Take a Hike

Venturing out on a hike is one of our favorite things to do on Labor Day. In many places, you’ll find that the September weather is a touch cooler than the height of summer. For a few hiking recommendations, check out our posts below:

The transition period from late summer to autumn is peak season for vineyards across the country. During Labor Day weekend, try visiting a winery or vineyard for a wine tasting. Many of our resorts are near renowned wine regions and you can find a few resorts below with acclaimed wineries nearby.
